A B C of dealing with anger, bad behaviour and conflict | Basic (foundation) | Honeydew venue
It is best to get behavioural problems under control as soon as possible. To do this we need to recognize problem behaviour early, understand it and be aware of its effects on us such as irritation and helplessness. But that is not enough. We need to practice the skills that enable us to manage problematic behaviour such as inappropriately expressed anger, bullying, fighting and conflict.
In this workshop we cover the basics of what leads to behavioural problems in the classroom. We discuss anger and the way it manifests in bad behaviours such as bullying, fighting and teasing. We discuss and practice ways to manage all these problems. This is a practical workshop in which a structured approach is given; we incorporate role plays, teach specific skills to train educators as first responders in mental health first aid. This workshop forms part of a set of workshops that make up the mental health first aid kit for child educators.
There is plenty of time as well for questions on specific behavioural problems. It is appropriate for nursery and primary school. it is directed at educators but counsellors and teacher assistants can benefit.
